From November 7 to December 5, every Friday, special dinners dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon and blue fish will be held in the restaurants of Poreč, Tar-Vabriga, and Funtana. Each Friday, the event will take place in a different restaurant, offering a unique opportunity to enjoy the combination of fine cuisine and exceptional wines. In addition to incredible flavors that will awaken even the most dormant taste buds, you will discover fascinating stories about the history of this grape variety in Istria and its special connection with blue fish.
Cabernet Sauvignon originated almost 500 years ago from a chance crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. Native to the French city of Bordeaux, today it is the most widely planted grape variety in the world. Its history in Istria spans 150 years, as does the tradition of fishing and consuming blue fish, with the earliest written records dating back to the 14th century.
