ANCHOVY FESTIVAL

Local fishermen are the guardians of the traditional method of salting anchovies.

In honor of that blue fish, Vabriga organizes a great festival with experienced fishermen who dedicated their whole lives to the sea. In Vabriga, anchovies were usually salted in two specific ways: in brine and by ordinary salting. The demonstration of salting anchovies is an essential part of this festival.

Thhe festival will be held on July 25.07.2026.

 

20:00h  - Presentation of anchovy salting in the traditional way

- A fun prize-giving for the best salted sardoni made during the sardoni salting workshops

20:30h - educational and animation program “ Fishermen’s Tales”

- Entertainment with Medo the Sailor by Maskote Istra
