Day La mula de Parenzo

On Saturday, September 20, in Poreč, the second edition of the event dedicated to the song and character La mula de Parenzo will take place. The program combines education, gastronomy, history, and music, drawing inspiration from the famous “Mula” of Poreč.

What began last year as the La mula de Parenzo Festival has this year grown into two independent projects.

The first, entitled Penelope’s Thread, is dedicated to contemporary textile creativity and its connection with traditional forms, featuring an exhibition of works by four artists: Ola Korbańska, Nikolina Krstičević, Raquel Rodrigo, and Josipa Štefanec. The exhibition opens on September 17 at 7 PM at the Museum of the Poreč Region.

The second project is the Day of La mula de Parenzo, offering visitors a diverse program throughout September 20.

The program of the Day of La mula de Parenzo begins at 10 AM at the Visitor Center of the same name (Freedom Square 13) with a wool felting workshop for children aged 7 to 12, led by curator and ethnologist Vltava Muk (advance registration required: lamuladeparenzo@muzejporec.hr).

At 10:30 AM, in the courtyard of the Poreč Museum (Caffè bar Lapidarium), there will be a cooking workshop on preparing jota (advance registration required at the same email address), led by Vesna Medvedec Buršić, retired journalist and author of the book Traditional Istrian Dishes. Participants will learn the secrets of preparing this Istrian specialty, which will then be available for tasting from 1 PM onwards. The tasting is open to all visitors.

In the evening, at 6 PM, the popular interpretative city walk La mula de Parenzo Tour will begin. The guides-actors are local citizens who, during the summer, entertained and educated the audience with their performances. The walk is open to everyone, with prior registration required.

The event concludes with a concert by Edna Strenja (vocals) and Igor Ivanović (guitar), entitled Canti di mare e di terra, at the Caffè bar Lapidarium. The concert begins at 7:30 PM.

Participation in all programs is free of charge.
